5 Tips for a No-Spend Weekend

by Chuck Bentley March 13, 2017

When you are down to your last few dollars, it may be time you have a No-Spend Weekend. Amanda, creator of CentsiblyRich.com says it’s a super way to save a little cash.

Impossible this weekend? Then, aim for another. Recruit friends to 5 tips for a no spend weekenddo it with you. You will be shocked at the fun you have while not spending a cent.

Make sure you have ingredients to eat all your meals at home. Cook things the whole family will enjoy. If you have activities to attend with your children, then prepare snacks and drinks so you won’t buy food while you’re out.

We work first then play.

For example:

  • Clean the house.
  • Declutter. Donate what you don’t need or find a way to sell some things to make money. Check out Craigslist, accumulate the stuff for a garage sale, or try eBay, Facebook, or other online spots.
  • Work in the yard. It’s rewarding and saves the cost of paying someone else to do it.
  • Help someone else. This is a great way to teach your children to serve others. One day we noticed a neighbor’s leaves were so thick you couldn’t see her driveway. We got the blower and in no time, had it cleared. We don’t think she ever knew who did it.
  • Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Read, play board games, hike, go to a park, have friends in for a potluck, attend a free concert.

You name it! Just make it fun and no one will ever complain about not spending money that weekend.
