For the past four years, Crown has partnered with a Brethren church serving in a predominantly Muslim region of Malawi—bringing both practical help and the hope of the Gospel through the “I Was Hungry” program.

John and Mary Beth Flippen shared an encouraging update from the field. “For the past four years, our team at Crown has partnered with the Brethren church… They are sending groups of villagers to our ‘I Was Hungry’ programs,” they said. “We are teaching the fourth village now.”

Through this ongoing relationship, lives are being changed in powerful ways. “Through this relationship many have given their lives to the Lord,” they shared.

A key part of the strategy is multiplication. After a year of walking alongside a village, leaders are raised up from within. “We choose three of the villagers to be Shepherds themselves,” they explained. “They are trained to reach the rest of their village and the villages beyond.”

Recently, two Crown staff members returned from visiting these newly trained Shepherds to witness the impact firsthand. Their goal was simple: to meet the people who had been discipled and reached through this growing network of local leaders.

What they found was deeply encouraging.

“WOW GOD! THE SHEPHERDING SCHOOL IS WORKING!!”

This testimony is more than a moment of celebration—it’s evidence of a model that is multiplying faith, leadership, and transformation across entire communities.
