Elton Chamutsakwari grew up in the rural Mandebvu community of Zimbabwe, the eldest of four children in a family that worked hard but struggled to make ends meet. Though poverty marked his early years, Elton found hope in reading Bible stories as a young man. Over time, however, peer pressure led him down a destructive path of substance abuse that cost him both his possessions and his sense of purpose.

Everything changed in 2014, after a devastating fire destroyed his community. In the midst of that crisis, Elton was invited to attend a Foundations for Farming training in Zimbabwe. There, he encountered a life-changing truth: food is both the problem and the God-given solution to hunger and poverty. Through the training, Elton rededicated his life to Christ, was delivered from addiction, and discovered a renewed calling—to live out and share the gospel with joy and excellence.

Elton went on to serve farming communities by teaching principles of stewardship, hard work, and biblical financial wisdom, including the Money Map. Though his efforts bore fruit—bringing improved harvests, income, and hope—his journey was not without hardship. Twice, success was followed by painful eviction from rented land, leaving him without a place to farm or provide for his family.

Earlier this year, Elton faced yet another season of uncertainty when the land he depended on for income was taken from him. For months, he was without work. But through prayer and God’s faithful provision, a new door opened. Today, Elton is once again cultivating rented land, growing produce that is being sold within his community and providing for others along the way.

Recently, Elton shared photos of his current harvest along with a heartfelt message of thanks—for the prayers that sustained him and for the Lord’s continued provision. Though he still hopes to secure permanent land one day, he remains steadfast, doing everything “on time, with excellence, without waste, and with joy.”

Elton’s story is a powerful reminder that God is at work even in the desert seasons—and that faithfulness, perseverance, and biblical stewardship can bear fruit that lasts.
