You’re a Money Manager
Each of us are wealth managers.
Would you hire an investment manager who’s likely to lose all of your money? I don’t think so. Well, God has entrusted His money with us. Yet, many manage it like it’s theirs and use it like it’s none of His business. Is that the kind of money manager you would hire? Faithful stewardship honors the Lord and seeks to obey His ways in all financial decisions. That requires renewing our minds with truth and applying His principles to every area of finance: budgeting, giving, saving, debt, and investing.
Stewardship humbly takes instructions from God, not the world, and then applies it to everyday life. Some decisions will run contrary to what others teach, but if we truly trust His Word, we can walk in faith and eager anticipation of what He can do in and through us. It requires discipline, self-control, and confidence in our Provider! His Word never changes, and we can trust His counsel in every season of life. Disobedience can spell disaster. So, I encourage you to pray with the Psalmist: “Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.” (Psalm 86:11)
The fear or awe of God should motivate us to obey. So, let’s take seriously our role of money managers. Do it with the hope of one day hearing: “Well done, good and faithful servant! You’ve been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:23)
