Work – It’s Good For You – Part 2

God said work is good for us.

God instituted work from the very beginning. He put Adam to work in the garden not as a curse, but as a delight. It was made difficult only after the fall. So what principles did God give us as a means of saying, “This is best for you regarding your work?” Well, yesterday we learned 3: Work hard with excellence and as unto the Lord.

Well, here are some more. Work with a great attitude. Honor others. Trust God for promotions. Workers must live above reproach so that employers, colleagues, or customers won’t question our honesty. We should work with an infectious positive attitude. Honor others by serving with love. Avoid gossip, backbiting, or slanderous talk. Your example can bring lasting change to a work environment. Daniel demonstrated his faith at work. So can we, in a winsome way, free of condemnation or judging. Ask God to open doors for you to share the source of your hope and joy, and pray for those you work with. Then trust the Lord for promotions.

I like how The Living Bible translates Psalm 75:6. “For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God.” Imagine Jesus as your employer. It’ll change the mindset you have about work. He can raise you up, move you to another job, or give you all you need to do the job at hand. He created us to work. Do it with a great attitude. Honor others, and trust Him for promotions.
