Words Affect Finances

Words affect our finances!

Your tongue is a muscle that has the power to build or destroy. Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” It can build relationships that lead to employment, sales, repeat customers, and a good reputation, or it can ruin relationships, destroy trust with employers, cause the loss of work, and damage your reputation.

Those who give full vent to their anger at work or at home shatter dreams, hurt others, and harm themselves. Perhaps that’s why so many verses in the Bible are devoted to the tongue and the words we speak. Think about the fruit of the Spirit. We often express these through the words we say. James, the brother of Jesus, said: Know this, my beloved brothers: let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger…” (James 1:19) He also warned: “The tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.”

Control of the tongue is a needed character trait for good money management. Those who use their words to edify others will experience the blessings of job promotions and work satisfaction. So, think before you speak. Use your tongue to honor others. Speak words that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.
