Wives – Man’s Helper

Are finances a struggle in your marriage?

Managing finances as husband and wife isn’t always easy. Finding the right and Biblical balance makes all the difference. In Genesis 2, God said, “It’s not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Well, wives, that’s you! So here are some tips on how to help:

Do your best to always honor him. Let him lead the way, but offer constructive, helpful advice as needed. Don’t take on responsibility that was never meant for you. Help with the budget so your family spends less than what is earned. If he says, “There’s not enough money”, then ask how to help. Be willing to move to a less expensive home or drive less expensive cars. Your sacrifice, support, and encouragement are necessary. You’re his helper, and he needs you especially when it comes to finances.

We were all created to work, but each has a different role. A man who works as unto the Lord creates security for his wife and children. His self-worth is improved when he does what God designed him to do. Now, a woman who works as unto the Lord supports her husband and takes an active role in reaching their financial goals. Like the Proverbs 31 woman, she works diligently and wisely manages the house and finances according to Biblical principles. Marriage is rarely the cause of financial problems. In fact, it’s often the very best solution. My wife and I wrote a book on this topic called Money Problems, Marriage Solutions.
