Wearing Hand-Me-Downs

One of our neighbors kindly offered me and my son some nice shirts he was getting rid of, and I wore one to work the next day.

I did not realize There was a university name embroidered on the sleeve of the shirt I was wearing! The name of a university I did not attend!

I didn’t notice until one of my colleagues pointed it out. I had to fess up that it was a hand-me-down!

At first, I was kind of embarrassed, but I thought of Matthew 6 – “store up treasures for yourself in Heaven, not on earth!” For me,  hand-me-downs are a way to avoid wasting money that could be used for God’s kingdom.

And if I ever decide to get a degree from Furman University, I’ll already have the shirt!
