Use Money To Teach Children God’s Reality – Part 2

Economics points to the reality of God.

Children should know that commerce is influenced by moral behavior. When any of the Ten Commandments is consistently violated, economic suffering follows. Nations with the highest levels of corruption have radically lower GDPs than nations with low corruption levels. According to 1 Timothy 6:10, “…the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.…” You see, money can corrupt our motives, attitudes, and moral standards. This can then be expressed in endless forms of evil and wickedness in the world.

In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “As you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” (Luke 6:31) His statement is considered the universal standard for good moral behavior. It’s often called the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

God transforms our hearts and minds as we worship Him, not money. In God’s Economy, He’s the Owner and Provider. We’re His temporary trustees or stewards. We work, and God supplies our needs. We give to obediently honor the Lord first. Next, we save to prepare for the unexpected future. After giving and saving, we spend wisely and carefully. Finally, we have money to invest to multiply resources. This cycle creates a sustainable economy. It brings the Lord’s blessings into our lives as well as to the global economy. So teach your children that God’s economy is superior to man’s economy.
