Use Money To Teach Children God’s Reality – Part 1
Are you teaching Biblical economics to your children?
We daily create economic evidence that points to God’s reality. The use of money reveals faith, or lack thereof, and God’s ever-present reality in our affairs. In my formal education and personal studies, the issues of God, faith, and the human heart are blatantly absent in the field of economics. With few exceptions, like behavioral finance, it’s viewed as a science concerned with the analysis of data only. The God who created economic actors and the beliefs that drive their activities is ignored. Yet, economic evidence points to the reality of God Almighty – the One who boldly and unilaterally declares to have created and sustains all things.
Now, you can teach this at home. When you gather for a meal, consider this: Every time you eat, you consume something that God made. We could not survive or maintain our health without the nutrients and calories derived from them. The health benefits and the massive economic demand for food are evidence of God’s hand in Creation and His statement that it was “good.”
Now, how about when you’re doing your chores together? You were created in God’s image, and He is a worker. Humans were created to be producers. We work and multiply whatever God entrusts to us. Now, your children’s financial choices will bring God glory when equipped with what He says about money. So give them a solid foundation.
