Trials – Opportunities to Grow Strong
Are you facing financial trials?
When bills need to be paid, the kids get sick, and the car won’t start, life can seem overwhelming, but for believers, these are opportunities to trust God more deeply for our needs and our future. Robert Morgan, the author of The Red Sea Rules, wrote that “Trials and troubles are dumbbells and treadmills for the soul. They develop strength and stamina.” He’s so very right. The Bible tells us in James chapter 1 to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds because God uses them to grow us.
Trials test our faith. They reveal where we’ve been depending on ourselves, and invite us to depend on the Lord. That’s especially true in our finances. When things are going well, it’s easy to say we trust God, but when the job becomes uncertain, when the paycheck won’t stretch to the end of the month, and when retirement savings drop, trust is tested.
Financial pressure can drive us to panic or to prayer. It can lead us to fear or to faith. God often uses these moments to reveal what or whom we really trust. He wants to remind us that He’s our Provider, not our paycheck, not our retirement accounts, and not our knowledge or worldly wisdom.
If you or someone you know is walking through a financial trial today, see it as an opportunity. Bring it to the Lord and humbly ask Him to teach you. Let it be the door to deeper obedience, to greater peace, and stronger faith. Trust Him at all times.
