The World’s Economy vs God’s Economy

Remember the oldie:

Don’t know much about history. Don’t know much biology?

In addition to history and biology, we don’t know much about God’s economy!

Financial planning the world’s way is very different than God’s economy.

The world’s economy seeks to prepare you for success in this world.

But, God’s plan is much broader.

God’s economy prepares you for meaning and purpose in this world AND for success in the world to come.

In the Parable of the 10 Minas, a nobleman rewarded 2 of his managers for their faithfulness, saying to one: Well done, good servant! Because you’ve been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities. And to the other: …you’re to be over five cities.

Faithful stewardship of what we’re given in this life will be rewarded with greater responsibilities in the life to come!

Paul told the Corinthians:

…each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.  If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.

Listen to Paul’s advice to Timothy:

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Since our works will be judged and rewarded, let’s live by God’s economy.
