The Number 40
The number 40 appears many times in Scripture.
In the Bible, the number ’40’ is often used during periods of trials or testing. For example, Noah and his family endured 40 days of rain in the shelter of the ark. Moses wandered 40 years in the desert. Jesus was tempted during 40 days of fasting in the wilderness. Though 40 seems to emphasize times of trouble and hardship, it also reveals the perseverance of those who trust and obey the Lord.
Yesterday, my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. Over the past 40-plus years, we’ve experienced trials and testing, but we persevered with commitment and hope. In 2000, God impacted our lives through Crown’s ministry, and we’re committed to living for Him. Ann and I desire to be peacemakers, to experience the shalom that God has promised. We commit to humble ourselves and strive to be the first to apologize, the first to forgive, and the first to forget. We commit to living out our purpose to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. We commit to studying God’s Word and living by His philosophy of money, and though our personalities are opposite, we strive to protect our unity in showing kindness, patience, grace, forgiveness, and acceptance towards each other. 47 years have flown by, but our best years are still ahead. Our hope is that your relationships and finances grow strong through this ministry and that our lives are a blessing to yours.
