The Chief End of Man

What is the chief end of man? To glorify God and enjoy Him forever!

We are called to glorify God in every area of our life. We achieve that by abiding in Christ and choosing to obey Him. And that includes how we handle money and possessions.

When we delight ourselves in the Lord, and obey the standards He laid out for us in His Word, we experience true freedom. But, many believers buy into the world’s thinking and fall into their own financial pit.

We shouldn’t be surprised. Eve, coveting forbidden fruit, was deceived in a perfect world, by the prince of this world. And, we have inherited that sin.

What’s the solution? First, ask God to give you a hunger and thirst for Truth. Desire a heart that proclaims with the Psalmist  “…there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.”

When you fully trust in the Lord for his provision, you experience peace and joy that the world cannot provide.

So learn to rest in God and repent of worldly desires. Commit your finances, and all your possessions, to the Lord. Plan for the future, save diligently, and avoid debt.

Less stuff without debt brings simplicity. You’ll find more time to build relationships and pursue worthy goals. You’ll find that the things of this world will grow strangely dim. And, you will experience what it means to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
