Testimony Tuesday – Words From a Coach in Training
It’s Testimony Tuesday!
Someone training to be a Crown Budget Coach wrote the following: “I entered this course with the goal of learning new and improved methods to my current financial understanding. I learned to look beyond the numbers, to see God as the Source and myself as a steward. The course focuses on strengthening our relationship with God, embracing true stewardship of His resources, and encouraging and empowering God’s people. It’s about removing the mental, physical, and emotional strongholds associated with debt.
We had to adjust our mindset on the purchase of vehicles. We no longer will be financing one every 5 years and snowballing payments. We’re following Crown’s Money Map, which says to pay off consumer debt at destination 3, and at destination 4, we’re supposed to save for major purchases like vehicles. So, to avoid auto financing, we’ll drive our current vehicle as long as possible. Meanwhile, we’ll continue saving a monthly amount to reach the cash purchase price for a replacement vehicle.
Learning and applying these additional biblical principles strengthened my walk with God and nourished my spirit. However, two items significantly pricked my soul. The reality of the physical, emotional, and spiritual bondage money has on people in debt is disheartening. People need financial freedom. Money should be used as a tool, not a weapon or imprisonment. Secondly, Christian parents are having fewer or no children due to fear of not being able to provide.”
