Testimony Tuesday – Training Leaders in South Africa

Good leadership begins in the heart. 

In May, we collaborated with our partners in Africa to host the first Global Leadership Academy at Crown’s Innovation Center near Cape Town. We trained twelve young leaders from Crown Stewardship Centers in 9 countries: Burundi, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. They were carefully selected to participate in this unique experience with the goal of inspiring, equipping, and investing in the lives of these emerging leaders. Crown believes that investing in the next generation will pay long-term dividends in God’s economy. We had lots of fun! We prayed, wept, and laughed together as we helped to equip them to lead in challenging circumstances.

The Bible teaches that leadership is not about power, status, or control. It’s about service, humility, and faithfulness. In Matthew 20:26, Jesus said it this way: “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” Godly leaders use influence to serve others, not elevate themselves. They seek wisdom, lead with integrity, and remember that authority is entrusted by God.

When we serve with love, we reflect the heart of Christ and have the opportunity to impact others. True leadership listens, serves, and points others toward what is right, honorable, and pleasing to the Lord. Our prayer is that these new leaders will apply what they learned and transform their communities.
