“When I began, I felt completely inadequate and unprepared to coach another person in their financial habits and decisions. After all, who am I to guide people regarding their money? But I’ve soaked up God’s financial principles and learned practical tools. I’ve even grown accustomed to using a spreadsheet. I have a better understanding of how God wants me to use my resources. Prayer and reliance on Him for every step of the counseling process are key. Having a mentor gives me additional confidence to coach others in Biblical financial principles and their practical application. 

I learned that my sons need clear and intentional coaching in the area of budgeting categories and a maintenance plan. The more I reviewed the case studies, the more I realized that over time, I had become less attentive to keeping an account of my spending. It’s always been reasonable and within the limits of our budget, but I had become lax about keeping accurate accounts of where the money goes. I realized that I can better steward our finances if I’m more intentional with my spending. 

The course emphasized God as our provider. It encouraged me to direct desperate clients to the Lord, their local church and their family. The case studies showed me the vulnerability that happens in financial distress. They gave me a more tangible perspective that God is our provider in every circumstance, no matter what.”
