Testimony Tuesday – The Blessing of Facilitating Crown Studies
Are you longing to be debt-free?
We recently heard from a long-time facilitator of our Bible studies. He said that because of Crown’s Biblically based lessons, he’s been debt-free for years. That includes his home and 4 rentals! Being a facilitator blessed him as much as those who participated. Now, I agree! One of the greatest joys in leading Crown financial studies is seeing how each attendee is blessed as they study and apply God’s principles. No two blessings are ever alike. As this man proclaims, “It’s so much fun to watch God work in each life.”
Most people get into debt assuming their jobs will continue or investments will be profitable. Yet, the Bible cautions us against presumption. Listen to James 4:13-15: “…you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we’ll go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you don’t even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You’re a mist that appears for a little while – then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.'”
The Bible doesn’t call debt sin. We just can’t make assumptions of repayment. Permissible debt should meet 3 criteria:
• The purchase is an asset with the potential to appreciate or produce an income.
• The value of an item exceeds the amount owed against it.
• And repayment of the debt should not put undue strain on your budget.
Follow God’s financial principles and watch him work in your life! And if you need help navigating your finances, Crown’s budget coaching program can set you on the path to financial freedom. Go to crown.org. Click the “Get Help Now” tab. You can start today at crown.org.
