Testimony Tuesday – Coached on Money and So Much More
It’s Testimony Tuesday!
We recently received this testimony from a woman who lost her job and sought help from our Budget Coaching Program. She learned more than just how to manage her money. Loss of income is painful in a marriage where priorities and disciplines vary. The most important thing she heard from her coach was to be a “peacemaker” in the relationship. She was also advised to consolidate her debts through a service we recommend by Christian Credit Counselors. She no longer feels the need to earn God’s favor. He wants her to be a good and thankful steward of what He’s blessed her with. As a result, she wants to work and represent Him well.
The most meaningful segment of her coaching was on legacy. At this point in her life, she can see its value more clearly. Growing up in Romania during the Communist era, she lived away from home in a boarding school. The only meaningful relationship prior to that was with her maternal grandmother, whose positive and godly influence was foundational, but when she and her mother sought political asylum in the U.S., all communication with loved ones was severed. This was necessary to prevent any harm to those left behind. Decades later, she reached out to her father, but he had remarried and clearly loved his new family, leaving no room to develop a relationship with her. There was simply no legacy left to learn from or to follow. So she desires to create a new legacy and prays for enough remaining years to do so. May God grant her the desire of her heart!
