Tempted to Spend – Steward Your Thoughts!

How well do you steward your thoughts?

Jesus told us to “…seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” (Matthew 6:33) But how many of us really make that a priority? Instead, we’re anxiously think about what to eat, drink or wear. “Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26) In your attempt to keep up with others, your fear of missing out, or your giving in to financial temptations, you miss out on the kindness of God. That’s why it’s important to steward our thoughts. We ned to develop the habit of reflecting on the richness of what we’ve been given so we’re not yearning for things of this world.

The apostle Paul, in Titus 3:4-7 said it this way, “…when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” So don’t get caught up worrying about what you will accumulate on Earth. We leave it all behind anyway! We’re heirs with an inheritance far greater than anything this world can offer. Steward your thought life by filling your mind with truth. Soon the things of this world will really grow strangely dim!
