Teaching Generosity

Generosity is an essential part of stewardship.

Generosity’s not an easy lesson to teach children. I had to learn the lesson of letting my actions speak louder than my words. If my sons saw me living generously, I believed it would impact their hearts. It’s like when I first left home. I bought the same laundry detergent Mom always used. I didn’t think about it twice. Generosity can be the same.

If it’s a constant and normal occurrence in your household, your children naturally incorporate it into their lives. Think about God’s generosity. John 3:16 says, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.” Let’s model generosity for our children.
