Store Credit Cards

“You could save 15% today AND get free shipping!” On the surface, those in-store credit card offers seem like a great idea…but there’s some important information the nice cashiers aren’t telling you.

The interest rates on store credit cards are some of the highest you’ll ever find. On average, the interest rate is about 24% compared to the average Visa or MasterCard rate of 15%!

This means that if you don’t pay your balance in full right away, you’ll likely pay back way more than whatever you saved opening the account.

Now, I don’t think credit cards are evil….in fact, I carry one, but I pay it off in full every month and I never open those in-store accounts.
