Stewarding Gifts of the Spirit

Are you stewarding your gifts of the Spirit?

Parents of multiple children know that each has unique strengths, personalities, and ways of learning. Those differences aren’t meant to divide but to enrich life together. The same goes for the family of God. “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” (Romans 12:6)

Often, we yearn for someone else’s abilities or opportunities instead of embracing the gifts that God has given us. It’s like a child desiring to be like a sibling, while missing the beauty of who they already are. God perfectly designed each of us and placed us in His body to serve His purposes. Advent reminds us of this truth. When Jesus was born, the gift of salvation entered the world. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He also gave us the Holy Spirit, who equips each believer with gifts for the good of all. The shepherds received the gift of proclamation, telling everyone what they had seen. Mary received the gift of faith and surrender. The wise men offered the gift of generosity. Each played a different role in the same miraculous story.

This Advent, let’s stop comparing and start rejoicing in the gifts God has given us. He gave unique roles to those in the first Advent story and is actively at work today. He equips you with everything you need to glorify Him. How can you steward the gifts God has given you to serve others this season? Where might comparison be limiting you from living fully in those gifts?
