Are you trying to be a good steward?

When people begin applying biblical financial principles, cultural differences become apparent. Choosing to budget, avoiding unnecessary debt, living below your means, or giving generously can invite criticism from those who embrace the world’s view of money. Why does this happen? Biblical stewardship challenges cultural values. The world promotes instant gratification, consumerism, and the belief that success is measured by more possessions. Jesus warned that following Him would often mean going against the crowd.

Managing money God’s way naturally creates tension with a culture that encourages accumulating more at almost any cost. Even well-meaning friends or family may question decisions like tithing, driving older vehicles, or avoiding debt when financing is readily available. Stand firm by remembering whom you seek to please. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” Ground yourself in God’s Word, seek counsel from mature believers, and surround yourself with people who value faithful stewardship. Focus on long-term faithfulness rather than short-term success.

The fruit of biblical stewardship is rarely immediate, but it is lasting. Faithfully manage God’s resources with humility, contentment, and generosity. You’ll demonstrate that true security is found not in wealth or possessions or public approval, but in trusting and obeying the Lord.
