Slow Down!

Are you stressed out?

With just one week till Thanksgiving, and Christmas around the corner, are you running around like a hamster on a wheel? During a period of high stress, Crown’s late founder, Larry Burkett said that he was resigning from being in charge of the universe. He was going to let God do His job! When I take on too much and spread myself too thin, I end up tired and ineffective. That’s when I need more margin. So, I’m challenging myself and asking you to jump off the hamster wheel and join me in slowing down. God’s in charge of the universe…. not you, not me, not anyone…but God. Let’s make God’s priorities our priorities. Let’s renew our minds through prayer and reading of His Word. Let’s truly rest on the Sabbath. Then, let’s serve others in love. Giving generously of our time and resources, lets us build His kingdom – not ours.

The Apostle Paul said that we were called to freedom. “Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13-14) The upcoming weeks will test our ability to serve in love, but it is in serving others that we will experience true joy. “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) Let’s slow down this week and remember the example of our Lord, so we “don’t grow weary of doing good”.

In my new book Seven Gray Swans, I describe potentially significant events that could happen. A gray swan’s an obvious danger that we tend to ignore.  Many of these things are happening before our very eyes.  My goal is to show you how to prepare for and survive these economic threats.
