Serving Others

Are you striving to get ahead?

The world tells us to build our platforms, grow our influence, and secure our success, but scripture calls us to a different mindset. It’s centered on serving others rather than on building our own kingdom. Jesus modeled a life that turned worldly thinking upside down. In Mark 10:45, He said, For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” When we shift our focus from self-promotion to serving others, something powerful happens. Our work gains purpose. Our relationships deepen, and our lives reflect God’s heart more clearly.

Philippians 2:3–4 reminds us to “do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” We reframe our motivation. Instead of asking what we can gain, we begin asking how we can help. Ironically, this approach often leads to greater impact than self-focused striving ever could.

When people are known for integrity, generosity, and service, trust is built, and influence naturally follows. Jesus also taught in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom of God. When we prioritize His purposes over our own, we can trust Him with the outcome. So, recognize that building your own kingdom is temporary, but investing in others by serving, giving, and loving well reaps rewards both now and into eternity.
