Scams – Be Discerning

In February, a malicious email started circulating about the coronavirus.

The email, supposedly from The World Health Organization, had a link to glean ‘safety measures’. The email address looked legit and appeared to take you to the Centers for Disease Control or the CDC.gov website. Since health agencies don’t send emails like this, it was just a devious way for cybercriminals to steal passwords and to gain access to private information.

Other similar emails are circulating now. So be discerning! Never click on a link before checking the URL, and never give personal data on any unsecured connection. Treat all unsolicited links with suspicion. Even if a message comes from a friend, they may have been hacked.
