Most parents hope their children learn to handle money wisely. That’s the appeal of Greenlight debit cards. For $5 a month, parents can automate allowances, transfers, and spending controls for up to five children. They get transaction notifications and the card can be turned off if lost or if suspicious charges appear. 

Now there are three accounts for money: spend, save, and give. Prepaid debit cards are also available at most banks. Now you’ll have to decide if, when, and what kind of card to get your children.
