Sacrificial Living
Are you living sacrificially?
Sacrificial living is a mark of biblical faith from Genesis to Revelation. It’s a root of financial faithfulness. It’s giving up something valuable for something eternal. In 2 Samuel 24, David insists on paying for the land where he would build an altar. He says, “I will not offer to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” That’s a profound statement. It verifies that sacrifice is meant to be costly.
A life of sacrifice means living below our means. It may require giving beyond our comfort or choosing obedience over luxury. Sacrificial living that builds God’s kingdom varies among people. It might look like:
• Delaying your lifestyle upgrades
• Giving generously or supporting missions before spending on your wants
• Paying off debt to create margin for Kingdom impact
• Rejecting comparison and choosing contentment
Sacrificial living won’t make sense to some, but it builds eternal treasure that can’t be seen right now. It’s not about earning God’s favor, but a response to His grace. It grants freedom. It says God owns everything, and I can trust Him completely.
The world says “accumulate”. Scripture says to surrender your finances to Him. The world says protect your comfort. Scripture says invest in eternity. One day, when we stand before the Lord, the sacrifices we made in faith won’t feel like losses at all. They will feel like eternal gain.
