Recognizing God’s Will
Are you following God’s will for your life?
Many Christians, full of drive and ambition, miss God’s will for them. They’re duped into following the world. They may ask lots of people about discerning God’s will instead of going directly to the Lord. If you’ve ever asked someone who’s truly living out God’s plan for their life, you’re likely to hear, “God revealed it to me.” Or, “I prayed, and He opened doors for me.” God promises to reveal his plan to those who seek Him diligently. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Steve and Becky sensed God’s call on their lives, but it didn’t line up with what they had in mind, especially in regard to position and income. They rationalized themselves out of it. For a while, they experienced loss – even sadness, but they moved on. Later, they felt the tug on their hearts again, but this time it wasn’t as strong, so it was easier to ignore. Eventually, God’s call on their life faded away, and the deceitfulness of riches choked out any further direction. If, like Steve and Becky, you’ve missed God’s call, no amount of income will ever truly satisfy. It’s impossible to serve both God and money. Only earnest, honest prayer and petition will restore your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Confess, repent, and surrender yourself to God’s call. He’s waiting.
