Raising Credit-Smart Kids

What do you hope your grown children never do?

Well, I can think of a lot of things, but some of you might say financial mistakes that involve credit. A Biblical understanding of money starts when children are young. One of the most important lessons is saving.

Teach them to exercise self-control and to make sacrifices to save. Otherwise, credit may become a way of life for them. Show them how to allocate money for giving, saving, and spending. Allow them to spend, but offer decision-making tips. Let them learn from mistakes while they’re young. Saving will prove to them that debt is not necessary.

“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.” (Proverbs 3:13-14)
