Pray Without Ceasing

Do you pray without ceasing?

The Apostle Paul told the Thessalonians to “Pray without ceasing.” As managers of the resources that God provides, we should take that advice to heart. Setting aside particular times each day for prayer is vital, but adopting an attitude of prayer all day, every day, is important as well. Experiencing God’s presence through prayer, day and night, grants peace that passes understanding.

When you make financial decisions without praying first, you act in your own strength, robbing yourself of God’s divine help. Prayer brings the blessings of God’s will to your personal life and helps to keep you within His plan. So, pray when facing financial troubles, and pray when all is well. Ask God to reveal anything you’re doing wrong or things you’ve left undone. Thank Him for dying for you and ask for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your life. Pray for His protection, grace, and mercy. Rather than fretting over your finances, pray whenever fear, uncertainty, and doubt enter your mind. Acknowledge the Lord’s presence and thank Him for all that He’s done for you.

I use the Lectio prayer app on my phone, and the morning prayers end like this: “Father, help me to live this day to the full, being true to you in every way. Jesus, help me to give myself away to others, being kind to everyone I meet. Spirit, help me to love the lost, proclaiming Christ in all I do and say. Amen.”
