Man’s Economy vs. God’s Economy
Are you living in God’s economy or man’s?
In man’s economy, money is the master of your life. In God’s economy, Jesus is Lord, Master, and King of your life. This may sound like a no-brainer to you, but we’re subtly controlled by money in ways we don’t realize. For instance, who do you consult before making large financial decisions? The Lord or your bank account? What about changing jobs? Do you ask the Lord if it’s his will or do you only consider the financial implications of the job offer? How many of your goals are related to financial growth vs spiritual growth; serving God’s purpose or growing your net worth?
Here’s one more. Have you ever heard it said, “Cash is King?” That sounds subtle, but cash is only king in man’s economy, not God’s. Since a king sits on his throne, declaring cash to be king in our lives places it on the throne. Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So, we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'”
Our confidence can be placed in money, but it will leave us and forsake us. God will not. In God’s economy, we have a Helper far greater than all the money in the world. Let’s declare Christ to be King and place him on the rightful throne of our hearts.
