Lordship: The Ten Virgins

Are you prepared for the return of Christ?

In the days of Jesus, it was customary for a groom and his friends to leave his home and go to the home of the bride. The marriage ceremony took place there, often at night. In the Parable of the Ten Virgins, Jesus is the bridegroom. 10 virgins went to meet him. Five wise ones brought oil for their lamps. The foolish five did not. When the groom arrived, they tried to buy oil but it was too late and their money was worthless. I believe the oil represents the Holy Spirit, a gift of eternal value that Money can’t buy. The wise enter His economy recognizing His Lordship. Does the priceless Oil of God dwell in you? Is He Lord of your life? Have you made Him Lord over all things? We can’t enter God’s economy until his Spirit enters our hearts and transforms us from death to life, from darkness to light. With His Spirit inside us, we now have oil in our lamps. We’re set apart to value things differently than the world—to know what has lasting value and what true riches really are. Wisdom recognizes our need for Him and responds with vigilant stewardship in honor of and in preparation for His return.

Christ is coming. Are you ready and prepared for that moment? If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. He’ll give you eternal life and fill you with His Spirit. The Bible reminds us over and over not to delay. Today if you hear His voice, ask the Lord to fill your heart with His Spirit.
