Jesus – the Lamb of God

Merry Christmas!

After the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem where they presented him to the Lord. They offered two birds, for they could not afford a lamb. God made this provision in the Law. Ironically, even in their poverty, they were holding the priceless Lamb of God. Simeon was there and given insight. Taking the baby in his arms, he praised God saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (Luke 2:28-32)

Do you know the One whose birth we celebrate today? Man’s relationship with God was broken long ago when Adam disobeyed the Lord. The guilt had to be punished, the debt had to be paid. Old Testament sacrifices pointed to a future event, but in the fullness of time, God provided the perfect one, a Lamb without blemish – His only son.

Jesus is God’s gift to us. We can’t earn salvation. We don’t deserve it. We can only receive it by humbly trusting the Lord and His grace. Perhaps you’ve never done that. The Bible says: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

And if you became a member of  God’s family today, be sure and let us know so we can celebrate with you.

And on behalf of myself, Johnny Franklin our sound engineer, John Bentley our sound tech, and our entire staff at Crown, we join together to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
