Humility – A Cornerstone of Financial Wisdom
Humility is a cornerstone of financial wisdom.
Humility impacts the way you think about money, the way you make money, and the way you spend money. 1 Peter 5:5 sayss “All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble’.” God “opposes” those who are proud. Notice that He doesn’t just withdraw from them or look the other way. He actively opposes or resists people who think too highly of themselves.
Pride puts you in an adversarial position with God. Is your desire to impress others worth facing God’s opposition? Is it worth the loss of blessings here and in eternity? Pride abuses your wallet. It causes you to spend too much, and it can trap you in a devastating financial cycle that wrecks your budget and your credit, but humility uses money for the Kingdom. Pride robs you of peace and joy. It puts terrible financial strain on marriages and families. It causes people to do things they know are wrong and can be fatal, but humility grants you freedom. Pride prevents you from progress. It keeps you from seeking wise counsel. It causes financial infidelity in marriages. It shames those who make mistakes, but humility allows you to fulfill your life purpose.
When we live as humble stewards, we see money as a tool that He entrusts to us for His Kingdom. You see stewardship is not about ordering your finances in a way so you can spend whatever you want – it’s ordering your life in a way so God can spend you however He wants. As we begin this new year, I want to thank you for your support. If you’ve been blessed, please consider a regular monthly gift to this radio station and also to Crown at crown.org.
