House That Withstood Hurricane Michael

Happy New Year! Finally!

In 2018, Hurricane Michael destroyed a beachside neighborhood in Mexico Beach, Florida. Only one house was left standing. But that was constructed on 40-foot pilings because the owners wanted it to withstand a big storm. It reminds me of a story Jesus told. A wise man built his house upon a rock. The rains came down and the floods came up but the house on the rock stood firm. When we build our financial houses on God’s truth we can weather the storms of life. Recognizing that He owns everything enables us to trust Him fully. We do our part the way He tells us and He does his part. Psalm 18:2 says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.”

We must not allow current events of any kind to lead us to fear-based decisions, but we should reduce our vulnerability created by debt, avoid fear and panic, and remain dependent on Christ. He is the never-changing constant in an ever-changing economy. He loves us and will be there regardless of the situations we encounter. Money doesn’t satisfy, it only serves to empower or prohibit the fulfillment of the life purpose that God has ordained for you. That’s why we should seek first His kingdom and trust the Lord for the things we need. Build your finances on the true Rock so you can rest in the stability He provides.
