Help for Economic Fears
Are you wrestling with economic fears?
Current events can create fear and anxiety. Inflation pressures, interest rates, market swings, global instability…these aren’t just headlines. They show up at the grocery store, the gas station, and in our investment portfolio. Our personal sense of security feels threatened. So how do we respond when economic fears hit close to home?
Consider the fear of rising costs. When everything gets more expensive, it feels like you’re falling behind financially. The wise response is to adjust, not panic. Revisit your spending plan, prioritize essentials, and look for ways to cut back. Even minor changes can restore a sense of control.
How about the fear of instability, job uncertainty, or market volatility? Here’s where preparation matters. Build or add to your emergency fund, reduce unnecessary debt, and avoid reactionary decisions. Fear makes us want to act quickly, but wisdom calls us to act carefully. Jesus addressed this in Matthew 6, saying: “Do not worry about tomorrow.” This doesn’t mean that we ignore reality, just don’t let fear control your decisions. You see, uncertainty is real, but so is God’s faithfulness. In times like these, financial pressure can either drive us to anxiety or draw us closer to Christ. So, in uncertain times, move forward with a plan. Be diligent, and most importantly, remember that your security isn’t found in the economy, but in the One who holds it all together.
