Grow in Generosity
Are you growing in generosity?
When it comes to giving, a number of verses motivate me. One is Proverbs 3:9. In the New Living Translation it says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.” Another is 2 Corinthians 9:6: “…Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” Imagine that we’re tending a garden. In gratitude, we give the first and best of the crops to the Lord, because apart from Him, nothing could grow. It’s only fitting that he be honored first. This garden provides for our needs as well. So we must sow generously if we expect to reap generously. We take good care of the garden so that it produces an abundance for our own needs – and the ability to bless others.
If you have any gardening experience, you know that a small plot can produce far more than what you can eat yourself. Sharing demonstrates love in action to our neighbors and brings us joy. Ask the Lord to give you a generous heart. Then, put a plan in place to increase your giving to your church and other works that impact His Kingdom. He wants us to see ourselves as givers not just those who occasionally get around to giving. Remember to support Christian radio, and don’t let Satan steal the good seeds before they produce a harvest. He’ll try to convince you that you can’t give more, but with full reliance on the Lord and a budget to keep you on track, giving more will be the best financial decision you ever make.
