God Is Our Provider
Are you losing sleep over your finances?
More than half of Americans admit that financial worries keep them up at night. Top concerns include everyday expenses, saving enough money for retirement, health care or insurance bills, and the ability to pay off credit card debt. Yet, we worship the same Lord who fed manna to the Israelites in the wilderness. He multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed thousands of men, women and children. He promises to meet our needs as well. God faithfully provides, but we can’t predict how or when. It could be through a raise, a gift, or by stretching your resources. Regardless of how He chooses, God is completely trustworthy.
The Apostle Paul said: If we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. The problem today is that we want more than we need. Easy credit eliminates our dependence on God and complicates our lives with debt and stress. We’re not content with what God has given us. Charles Allen tells how at the end of WWII, Allied troops gathered orphans and placed them in camps where they were well fed. Despite excellent care, the children were afraid and slept poorly. A doctor’s solution was to give each child a piece of bread to hold at bedtime. The hungry were given more to eat, but they still clung to the bread. They slept well knowing they had food to eat the next day. God gave us the Bread of Life. As we cling to His promise of provision, we can relax knowing He’ll supply every need according to his riches.
