Give Now

Giving Tuesday

I love to give. Especially when someone doesn’t expect it!

When my wife Ann and I have the opportunity to bless others financially, it gives us great joy.

This year, one of our sons will become a father. Several months ago, he and his wife decided to buy a used van. They needed a safe, reliable one because they drive lots of miles. He showed me some they were considering.

I told Ann and we both felt the Lord leading us to give them our van. We had an ‘06 Toyota Sienna in perfect working order. It was regularly maintained, had new tires, and was super reliable. So, we told them we’d sell it to them for…$500.

Now, needless to say, they were delighted. Though they had saved some money for a van, our low price van freed up funds for them to use to finish out their nursery and cover some healthcare costs.

Giving is fun. And, when you and your spouse are united, it becomes even more fun! Especially when you give sacrificially.

Paul told the Corinthians: The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

So ask God where he wants you to give this year. Surprise your church, a ministry, this radio station or someone who doesn’t expect it!

Jesus said: It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

I know that for a fact! Try it– you’ll be blessed!
