Giving: Bananas in Kenya

Are you generous?

David operates a business in Kenya. When a security guard told him he was hungry, David cut down a banana tree and gave him all the bananas. The security guard gladly accepted them, but when he saw the hunger in his own village, he couldn’t keep them for himself. So, he gave them all away.

Many of us have never known that kind of hunger or that kind of generosity! Giving should be an outward material expression of a willing and obedient heart. Giving according to God’s Word is not mandatory; it’s always voluntary. We’re all generous, either towards God or to ourselves. Giving is God’s way of involving us in His redemptive work.
