What threatens your giving?

Years ago, a friend in China told me that the greatest danger for the church was affluence. He explained. We too often accept a life of indulgence as normal. Our focus on worldly success dulls our perception of God’s direction and purpose for our lives. We adopt an attitude of superiority and grow indifferent toward the needs of others.

Real abundance is found in having the right relationship with God, with a community of believers, family, and friends, and with money. If money, or the pursuit of it, controls your life, repent and make God your only authority. Hold money loosely. It’s all His. It’s there that you’ll find the joy in generous giving.
