Forging a Financial Plan Together
Money is a leading cause for couples to be discouraged, divided, and destroyed. Are YOU sick and tired of fighting about finances? You need a plan to unite and conquer!
Oftentimes, these symptoms in marriage develop because couples have no plan. So, they fight, blame, argue, criticize or rationalize financial issues while failing to stop and admit that THEY’VE caused or contributed to the problem!
If you want to experience healing, be the first to confess…..the first to say, “I’m sorry!”
Then, be quick to forgive one another. As Paul taught the Ephesians, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Only then, can you make steps in forging a financial plan.
When two people submit to God and His Truth, character traits like flexibility, forgiveness, kindness, and support will flow from each other.
Then, get to work!
Make sacrifices in order to make progress. Inviting God into your plan is the most important step – Ask Him for the strength, patience, and diligence to follow through.
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” He is the one “…who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.”
God’s transformational power provides an advantage for two to become one regardless of your personalities, background, or annoying habits. The spiritual condition of you and your spouse impacts everything.
What we believe about God impacts our view of ourselves and thus our marriage, children, and finances.
So, commit your marriage to Christ. Unless you live with purpose you’ll live in danger of achieving nothing of eternal value.
Work at your plan! Protect your marriage! It’s worth it!
My wife and I had to decide 17 years ago that it was worth it to make difficult changes in our marriage to align our hearts spiritually and financially. We had been living in disunity for 21 years, and something had to change. Recently we wrote a book together about what that process was like and the lessons we’ve learned from it. Our prayer is that Money Problems, Marriage Solutions will encourage and help other couples to get on the same page. You can get your copy by making a donation of any amount to Crown Financial Ministries this month. Donate today at crown.org/marriagebook.
