I’ve counseled people with significant assets who were wiped out during economic downturns. Things looked great on paper, but their lifestyles were highly leveraged with debt. When interest rates rose and the economy tightened, they couldn’t keep up with payments. They lost everything, including their homes.

Highly leveraged lifestyles may look good on the outside, but they can become time bombs when conditions change. Make it your goal to eliminate debt. You’ll sleep better at night, reduce your stress, and enjoy the freedom to serve others when economic storms come…which they surely will. Your lifestyle may not look flashy, but it will be built on solid ground.
