Financial Problems? Trust God
Financial problems cause fear.
Financial problems brew emotions like anger, shame, and discontentment. Fear is usually at the root. If our identity is not secured in Christ, we look to the world for help as we struggle with fear of the unknown or in the midst of trouble. Now we all fear something. Maybe it’s losing a job, becoming disabled, facing foreclosure or bankruptcy. Maybe you’re facing a financial nightmare right now. Are you ready to face your financial fears and get rid of them once and for all? Listen to Paul’s advice to Timothy: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
This verse has 3 clear lessons for us here. First, financial fear is not from God. Got that? Second, fear is a Spirit – a demonic force. It’s used to keep us in bondage, locked up, frustrated, and stuck in worry, doubt, and anxiety. Third, God has given you power, love, and self-discipline. Power is real power. Power from above to endure the financial pain. Love – the perfect, unending, love of God to cast out all fear. Self Discipline – a fruit of the spirit of God. It’s what’s needed when making a plan to overcome any financial challenge. Power, Love, Self Discipline. Isn’t that beautiful? God can give you His power to fight the battle. Rely on Him to get you through this and rest in the love of God to escape your nagging fear.
