Financial Lessons From a Net of Fish – Part 2

Are you struggling to do things God’s way?

Yesterday, we looked at Luke 5 when Jesus told Peter to: “‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.”

Well, there were two financial lessons from yesterday: Obedience leads to unexpected blessings, and God wants us to trust Him. Here are two more.

#3: Trust God’s Timing

The disciples had fished all night without success. Yet, Jesus said try again. His ways and timing are often different from our own. We can trust Him, even when it might not make sense to us.

#4: Unexpected Abundance

The magnitude of the catch shows that God can provide in unexpected ways that sometimes exceed our imagination. The disciples could not have achieved this size of catch through their own efforts. Yet, God’s power is unlimited. Trust Him, even when you doubt, fail, or fear.

Faithful stewardship, rooted in your obedience, is the key to financial freedom. Rather than being led by emotions or human rationale, do what God says. Then, look forward with great anticipation to the way He will work all things together for your good and His glory.
