Faith vs. Financial Fear

Are you fearful?

Do your resources seem limited? Are bills increasing? Does your future feel uncertain? Financial fear has a way of narrowing our vision. That’s why the story of Elisha in 2 Kings 4 is so encouraging. A man brought twenty loaves of barley bread to the prophet Elisha. It wasn’t much, yet he instructed his servant to set it before 100 men. The servant questioned him. “How can I set this before a hundred men?” In other words, “This isn’t enough.” Elisha repeated himself, trusting in God’s provision. Sure enough, everyone ate, and there was food left over.

Financial fear often begins when we look at our circumstances and conclude, “This is not enough.” Faith asks a different question: “What can God do with what I have?” God may not miraculously multiply your resources, but our confidence must never rest solely in the amount we have. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly worked through limited resources. A widow’s oil. A boy’s lunch. A few loaves of bread for Elisha. Now, the common thread is trust. When we place what we have in God’s hands, we acknowledge that He’s the provider. We stop measuring our future based on numbers, and we begin measuring it by His faithfulness.

So, if financial fear is weighing on you today, remember this: What seems insufficient to you is not insufficient to the Lord. Trust Him. Obey Him. Be faithful with what He’s entrusted to you, and leave the results in His hands.
