Debt-Free Vacation

What is your DREAM vacation? A quiet cabin in the woods, an adventure-filled week in the Caribbean, or exploring museums and restaurants throughout Europe?

We Americans love vacations! Some people are actually professional vacation-ers.

But do we have any idea how much these trips really cost us? I recently learned that on average, Americans take on over $1,000 of debt to pay for a vacation!!!

That’s crazy! And it quite honestly makes me sad to think of folks burdening themselves with the stress and bondage of debt….in order to try and escape the stresses of daily life.

You could use a number of reasons as an excuse for accumulating debt, but the main reason people go into debt for anything is because they fail to budget for it.

Vacations are good and necessary. Our brains, bodies, and families need them.  But, the extra stress brought on by debt often wipes out the benefit of the time away!

Sadly, the first vacation that gets couples in trouble financially is their honeymoon!

So my two words of advice are: BE CONTENT. Simply BE CONTENT with what you can afford – this year!  Accept where you are and plan ahead for next year!

The Apostle Paul said, “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.  I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

So, ditch the “worry about it tomorrow” mindset and make a plan for your next vacation TODAY.
