Crazy Money! Rock Legend’s Guitar Auctioned
It’s Crazy Money Day!
Rock guitarist Jeff Beck died in 2023 at the age of 78. His collection of over 130 guitars, amps, and more was auctioned at Christie’s in January. Proceeds exceeded $10 million. His 1954 “Oxblood” Gibson Les Paul drew $1.3 million – double its initial estimate. In fact, it broke the world auction record for the most expensive Gibson Les Paul ever sold. It’s crazy!
I’ve always enjoyed music and have played a couple instruments over the years. So you can imagine the joy of watching my 2 young kids become increasingly passionate about it too. I’ve been pretty intentional about investing in a variety of instruments to have around for them to explore and grow in. Children are created in God’s image with a unique purpose and design. Our role is to encourage and patiently guide them on the journey of learning who God made them to be. It’s a solemn responsibility that involves the wise management of money, time, and talent. Invest time praying for the wisdom, love, and strength to raise them for His glory. While there are no guarantees, being intentional is better than simply hoping for the best.
You can maximize limited funds by devoting a few hours to setting goals and establishing a realistic budget. Spend less than you earn to provide stability and margin for your family. Wisely manage what God provides, knowing your children are learning by observing your behavior. Your investment will pay dividends for generations to come, regardless of whether you buy them guitars.
